Print file preparation
- Create the file in CMYK mode — it’s easier to adapt CMYK to RGB than the other way around.
- In Photoshop: merge all elements + type that are in the spot colour into the same layer, name the layer with the name of the spot colour (useful for the printer).
- Also: rasterize type and elements, save a layered TIFF or PSD file (or Illustrator file).
- Before packaging the file, remove all colours that weren’t used (Swatches > Select All Unused).
- Collecting files = Packaging (preflight). File > Package… Copy Fonts, Copy Linked Graphics, Update Graphics Links In Package.
