An online radio station presents political and cultural news to a young adult audience. The vibe is low-brow and enthusiastic, yet confident.
Brand design
Several decisions made the basis for the brand profile and design:
- young adult listeners
- commuters to work or studies, listening in the mornings and late afternoons
- informal, unintimidating – casual attire, inviting attitude
- political news
The station’s name, Radio Ga Ga, is an ironic play on how the target group typically views the topic of political news.
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio, what’s new?– Roger Meddows-Taylor, Queen
I chose Point LJ, a tech-style font, for the logotype, and Maison Mono, a monospaced font representing a modern take on old-style newspaper typography, for body text. The colours are from the Norwegian early mornings and sunsets; mixed with mountains, blue hour forests, and cityscapes.
Photoshoot
The female presenter used in the ads is from a stock photo, and I put a young man in front of my camera to provide her with a colleague. On-site, the main challenges were to get the direction of light and the shooting angle similar to that of the stock photo so that the two could pose together even though they were not photographed simultaneously. During post-processing, I worked on the colour grading and refined the light.

Someone still loves you– Roger Meddows-Taylor, Queen
